This site is dedicated to the memory and musical legacy of one of the greatest, yet possibly one of the most under-recognized, jazz musicians of the 20th and 21st centuries, Franz Jackson.

Franz was born November 1, 1912, started playing jazz at age 13 and didn't stop until just months before his death in May, 2008 at the age of 95.

He touched tens of thousands with his music and his spirit and we continue to remember him fondly and with reverance.

My personal goal is to eventually organize an annual jazz festival in Franz's name in Southwestern Lower Michigan where he raised his family.  Support from his friends and fans will be vital in making the dream a reality.

If this is your first visit, welcome, I hope you enjoy learning more about Franz.  Look around, listen a bit, browse the photos and, please, feel free to leave your sentiments about Franz on his "Guestbook" page.

“For me jazz is like liberty and freedom. As long as there is freedom and liberty there will be jazz – because that’s the kind of music it is.”
Franz Jackson (undated quote)
Franz's website is designed, built, and maintained by his daughter, Michelle, and will remain active in celebration of his spirit and memory in an effort to continue to provide information about this amazing musician to those who knew him and those who have yet to discover his incredible talent.

We love and miss you, Franz
